Coming Home

Running through these halls
And finding only walls
I find myself excited,
Yet still somehow disquieted
It's been so long you see
Since last met, did we
Far too long it seems
As if viewed in foggy dreams
But still I leap at them
Grasping without purchase, like fingers at a hem
Oh, to see your face again and hold you close to me
A greater gift in life I doubt could ever be
To hear your soft voice
Acknowledge my humble choice
For to part was all my own
And to your sorrow a seed was sown
I am no longer the same
It's a different boy who came
Though I encourage you my sweet
Though only in passing may we meet
I say that no matter where I wander
Absence makes the heart grow fonder
I wrote this in the Philadelphia airport almost 2 years ago while stopped on a layover coming back from Madagascar. I wrote it as a way to commemorate my time there, my desire to return home, and at the same time my desire to return to my secondary point of origin as quickly as time and circumstance permitted. Hopefully at least one part of that comes through to each of you.
